The Spring Summer 2016 season offered a variety of big, bold, and bright collections that are sure to make a statement both in-store and on the sidewalks next year. In this special New Year’s feature, Top 5 Must-Haves for 2016, the network has narrowed down all the best catwalk trends into five essential pieces for every style and every closet. Here’s a look at what’s to come:
Givenchy’s creative director Riccardo Tisci played around with the cozy idea of “lingerie as clothing.” Silk camisoles, barely-there slip dresses and sexy lace detailing are just a few ways this bedroom inspired look will become part of the everyday wear. Also following this trend is Korean designer J. JS Lee––giving loungewear a street chic makeover, and Russian designer Ekaterina Kormich––who reinterpreted these classic lingerie staples.
Fashion is also getting a playful makeover this year with “ruffles, frills and lots of pink”. American designer Betsey Johnson showed that frills could also be serious by opening her collection with a hot pink ruffled skirt in voluminous proportions. This whimsical trend also caught the eye of Spanish designer Maria Cle Leal, as seen on her large, dramatic ruffles on structured dresses, as well as London-based designer Ryan Lo, as seen on his dresses made out of layers of delicate ruffles so intricate that they almost looked like flowers.
