Aly & Fashion’s First Fashion Show in Singapore on 19th September 2013
The label Aly & Rachelle, together with venue sponsor Le Noir and fashion agency, Robe de Princesse (RDP), brought on 2 fashion shows on 19th September 2013 which were quite distinctive of each other. The Creative Director for the label Aly & Rachelle, Christine Lam, also flew in from Hong Kong to grace the event. The private fashion event showcased most of Aly & Rachelle’s new Autumn-Winter 2013/14 collection and only a few pieces of her current Spring-Summer 2013 collection.
Christine, The Designer
Christine Lam graduated from Central Saint Martins and interned for Moshino Koshino and also McQ Alexander McQueen. Prior to launching her own label Aly & Rachelle in 2011 with her partner Stanley Tung in both the UK and HK, Christine held a very important and significant role as the Senior Designer at Agent Provocateur.
The Event itself
The evening started with a round of free drinks for the ladies sponsored by the Venue Sponsor Le Noir and the private fashion show started at 9pm sharp to the beat of the Theme Song “Girls Just Wanna Have Some Fun” by Cindi Lauper. The private fashion show was hosted with finesse and intelligent wit by acclaimed theatre director, Dr Loretta Chen. Popular Class 95FM DJ, Jean Danker, also made it to the show and even assisted with the Lucky Draw with prizes sponsored by Banyan Tree.
After 10pm, Le Noir opened its doors to the public. The place was extremely crowded and packed with party-goers and everyone at Le Noir that night was in for a treat. The 2nd fashion show which started at 10pm was a far cry from a typical fashion show. Like Aly & Rachelle, the evil twin comes out to play when the night gets dark. While on the subject, Aly & Rachelle is a story of a pair of twins, a good twin and an evil, bad twin. Hence the design direction for the collections will offer feminine elegance and edgy, bolder looks.
As soon as the Live Band made the announcement for Aly & Rachelle’s public show to start, the models changed their gears and walked up to the bar top much to the amazemant of the crowd. Le Noir had ingeniously built a platform on the bar top so that the models can do their catwalk on the bar top situated right outside of Le Noir, creating a lot of hype and catching the attention of the party-goers.
Aly & Rachelle also did a fashion show in Hong Kong before the Singapore one to launch the Autumn-Winter 2013-14 collection. When we ask Christine about her own personal style, she related that, “My personal style is what Aly & Rachelle is all about. I like things are simple and easy-to-wear and clothes that bring out the femininity of women.”
Moving forward, Aly & Rachelle will be expanding their collection to include more separates. Christine also shared that their target customers are women in their mid-twenties to late forties. Their target audience and customers are professional women and women in the mid to high-level of society. We are very excited and enthused to see Christine’s new collection again very soon.
Aly & Rachelle’s new collection will be ready for ordering on Robe de Princesse’s website at www.robedeprincesse.com.sg.
